Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST)
ASIST and SafeTalk is developed and researched by LivingWorks and has been helping communities all over the world become suicide safer since 1983. LivingWorks programs are part of national, regional and organizational suicide prevention strategies around the world. The learning experiences are interactive, practical, regularly updated and customizable for all.
Our vision with ASIST is a suicide-safer community. This training helps caregivers of all kinds learn suicide intervention through two-day, intense training that helps individuals recognize red flags and response to invitations for help. It provides the confidence to ask about suicide and provides the education to deal with the answers. This interactive program includes teaching, discussion, videos and skill practice. The emphasis of the ASIST workshop is suicide first-aid, helping a person at risk stay safe and be able to seek further help.
SafeTalk
This training teaches suicide alertness for everyone. It can help any member of our community identify a person with thoughts of suicide and connect them to suicide first aid resources.
SafeTalk makes it easier to recognize red flags and respond to invitations for help. It provides the confidence to ask about suicide if you are concerned with someone’s safety. Evaluations have shown that the workshop increases a participant’s knowledge and confidence to respond to a person at risk for suicide.
